During the operation, abundant war material and ammunition were found by troops along those arrested. It is presumed that this material would be used to constrain the population of the municipalities of El Piñón, Cerro San Antonio and Pivijay.
Within the framework of the Perseo Plan, in stabilization ground operations, troops of the National Army made the arrests in flagrante delicto of three individuals who would belong to the David Mesa Peña Substructure, belonging to the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition.
The military operation carried out by the Mechanized Infantry Battalion No.5, in coordination with the National Police, in the village Las Pavitas, municipality of El Piñón, department of Magdalena, led to the arrest of these three people identified by the authorities as alias Samir, alias Pipo and an individual of foreign nationality.
According to information, it was possible to establish that these three individuals would be engaged in intimidating civilians in the municipalities of El Piñón, Cerro San Antonio and Pivijay, under the direction of alias Mauricio, who figures within the criminal organization as the main ringleader; this, through the collection of money from extortion, forced displacement, drug trafficking, threats and selective homicides, which has hit the well-being and tranquility in this area of the Caribbean region.
In the military operation it was possible to find an AK 45 rifle, caliber 5.56 mm; an MX R-15 rifle, caliber 5.56 mm; 3 magazines for rifle, caliber 5.56 mm; 2 revolvers, caliber 38 mm; a shotgun; 67 ammunition caliber 5.56 mm and 6 cartridges caliber 38 mm, material that was in the hands of the detainees, who were put into custody of the authorities.
