The National Army Aviation, in a Black Hawk helicopter, carried out the aeromedical evacuation of this person to the Tumaco District, so that he could receive specialized medical assistance.
Within the framework of the Perseo Plan, the Hercules Joint Stabilization and Consolidation Task Force carried out the aeromedical evacuation of an individual belonging to the José María Becerra front of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Eln, who, due to an explosive device planted in a rural area of the municipality of Santa Bárbara de Iscuande, in the department of Nariño, was seriously injured.
In tactical tasks, soldiers of the Pegaso Operational Command, who were carrying out territorial control operations in that sector, receive information about the arrival of a person seriously wounded at the health center of this municipality.
Immediately, the members of the Military Forces went to the health center to verify this information, there they met with the wounded person, who reported that while traveling over the Santa Rica village he was hit by an anti-personnel mine, suffering serious injuries on his right leg; as a result, he was abandoned by other people who accompanied him, apparently alleged members of the GAO Eln.
This individual, seeing his condition and the abandonment by his comrades, expressed to the troops his intention to rejoin civil society and start a new life with his family under the legality and support of the Humanitarian Assistance Group to the Demobilized, led by the National Government.
According to the report of the Santa Bárbara de Iscuande health center, the injured man had to be transferred to a specialized center to provide him with surgical support for the case, as it required priority assistance that was not available at that health center.
Thanks to the timely coordination and reaction of the soldiers who informed the higher command, an aircraft was sent by the National Army Aviation, to evacuate this person to the district of Tumaco, where a team of professionals was waiting for him to transfer him by ambulance to the San Andrés de Tumaco Hospital and thus receive the timely assistance he needed.
