The day and night work of 34 members of the Military Forces, with the support of the Invias, made possible the construction of the new military bridge that will serve to restore vehicular traffic on the national highway that connects the departments of Casanare and Arauca.
After the collapse suffered by the Eduardo Román Bazurto national bridge over the Ariporo River, last Thursday, October 13 of this year, due to the heavy wave of rains that hits the country, the Military Engineers, the Sixteenth Brigade of the National Army with the support of Invias in just 25 days built the new military bridge to restore vehicular traffic.
The semi-permanent modular metal structure is a triple reinforced acrow-type bridge, American-made, 64 meters long, with the capacity to receive 52 tons of weight, which will benefit the inhabitants of the municipalities of Salinas, Sácama, Hato Corozal and the north of Paz de Ariporo, in the department of Casanare, and all the inhabitants of the department of Arauca who transit this important national road.
People had lost the conventional way to cross the Ariporo River, which at this time has a flow and strength of water out of the usual. The situation made them generate dangerous alternatives such as crossing it by foot, by boat and rudimentary bridges to be able to reach the places of destination, a crossing that was in the same way accompanied by the soldiers of the Comprehensive Action and Development Battalion No.8.
This work was made possible thanks to the governorates of Casanare and Arauca and the mayors of the nearby municipalities, who joined forces to made possible tourism, transport of goods, agricultural products, livestock, petroleum and mining to unite both departments in normal conditions again.
In this way, the National Army, fulfilling the institutional mission, works hand in hand with different institutions to provide engineering and construction projects that improve roads and facilitate mobility in areas of the country that need it, thus generating growth and development.
