The Vanguardia del Sur binational Exercise began today in Colombia, at the Tolemaida Military Fort, where logistics, communications, command and control, aviation and bilingualism resources will be strengthened, in addition to training on human rights, disaster care and prevention and the strengthening of the Women, Peace and Security Program.
The event is being held for the third time in Colombia and aims to increase training and interoperability of the Colombian National Army and the U.S. Southern Army, in order to materialize joint strategies that directly benefit communities in Colombia with greater security and protection.
For two weeks, troops of both armies will promote the exchange of Resources to contribute to regional security and increase the ability to plan, prepare, execute and evaluate combined exercises not only with the United States, but with the armies of the region, in order to raise the standards that led responding to a crisis, in humanitarian assistance or, in case of natural disasters.
This exercise is part of a series of operations that are being carried out permanently conducted by the two countries, which leads to strengthening alliances and sharing experiences in doctrine, tactics, techniques and procedures, as well as continuing efficiently and committing crimes as to training according to the standards of the best armies.
Vanguardia del Sur is a rotating exercise that the United States Army conducts with countries in the region, to establish a multinational exercise that will improve the preparedness, security and resources.
Within the framework of this training, the Women, Peace and Security conference will be held, an environment where the role of women within the institution will continue to be strengthened and the empowerment, opportunities and challenges assumed by each of them in order to fulfill the mission will be studied.
To the Colombian National Army, it is vitally important to maintain bilateral efforts with the US Army South, in order to continue preparing and working to become more interoperable day by day, share knowledge and respond to the challenges imposed by the fulfillment of the mission.
