In an operation against environmental crimes, in the Unibrisas del Iteviare village in Mapiripán-Meta, the authorities intervened real estate and machinery apparently used against the natural resources of protected areas of the Amazon Biome, in the South-eastern Colombian.
Troops of the National Army in an inter-institutional work with the Colombian Air Force, the Attorney General's Office, in support of Cormacarena, carried out a military operation to intervene active deforestation in this region of the country, where the El Jaguar nature reserve is established and where the habitat of specimens of endangered animals and environmental resources in general are protected.
As part of the unified work, five buildings and machinery in the process of being assembled were raided, allegedly for deforestation and logging purposes. 3.94 cubic meters of wood, 300 units of cattle in a protected area, three chainsaws, three swords and a scythe were found by troops at the site. Which were put into custody of the Attorney General of the Nation, specialized in Human Rights specifically in the axis of the Environment.
It should be noted that in the municipality of Mapiripán, Meta, according to a report by experts of the Cormacarena environmental authority, the Mapiripense territory has been hit due to its fauna and native jungle, much of the times by violators and repeat offenders, who possibly arrive from different parts of the country to commit crimes against biodiversity, illegally taking the universal heritage of humanity.
The troops of the National Army reiterate the commitment to the security and protection of the nation's strategic resources, carrying out decisive military operations against criminal structures, working for human security and for the protection of ecosystems.
