Units of the Colombian Navy in development of an operation against drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the Colombian Pacific, found more than 1.5 tons of cocaine hydrochloride at the time when individuals were trying to traffic them to Central America in a boat, which was manned by three individuals including a foreigner.
The events occurred approximately 164 nautical miles of the Tumaco - Nariño sea buoy, when a Colombian Navy ship detected a boat traveling suspiciously. Immediately, a Coast Guard Rapid Reaction Unit was sent to start the maritime interception operation, which culminated in the arrest of the ship.
During the inspection carried out by the Coast Guard Units of Tumaco to the boat, 76 sacks similar to those used for the transport of narcotics and communication equipment were found by troops inside, so the crew members were taken to the Port of Tumaco, where officials of the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office conducted the Homologated Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH to the substance in the packages, leaving positive result for 1,509 kilograms of cocaine.
The individuals, including two Colombians and an Ecuadorian, were put into custody of the authority, and they must answer for the alleged crime of trafficking, manufacturing and / or carrying narcotics.
