Units of the Colombian Navy rescued a tourist boat that was drifting with 17 people on board, five nautical miles offshore in the Gulf of Morrosquillo, given that the boat in which they were traveling presented failures in one of its engines.
The Coveñas Port Authority received the alert call of the captain of the ship named Black Sky, who reported being in an emergency without being able to maintain control of the boat, for which a rapid reaction unit of the Coveñas Coast Guard Station was deployed in order to rescue and evacuate the 17 passengers.
The rescued people, along with the boat, were transported to the Navy of Cispatá port, where they planned to arrive once their tour was over.
The Colombian Navy, through the Coast Guard units of the Caribbean Naval Force, continue to carried out maritime control and surveillance operations in coordination with the authorities to safeguard human life at sea, in the same way locals and tourists are invited to enjoy the holiday season in the Colombian Caribbean complying with maritime safety regulations.
