Heeding the call of the National Government and honoring the constitutional commitment, the Colombian Air Force, through the Military Transport Air Command- CATAM, deployed an aircraft from Colombia to Peru, to pick up and transfer back to the country, the members of the professional men's soccer team Deportivo Pasto, who were participating in the preseason matches in the city of Arequipa- Peru and who had not been able to return to Colombia, due to the situation of the brotherly country.
The C-40 aircraft took off on January 25 at 02:13 pm from CATAM and, returned, with the team on board, and landed at 11:36 pm at the Bonilla Aragón International Airport serving the city of Cali, Valle del Cauca. “The flight was made at an altitude of 41,000 feet, taking approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes each way, traveling 2,500 kilometers,” said Lieutenant Colonel Paula Carrasquilla, the pilot of the aircraft.
“On behalf of the team, I want to thank the Colombian Air Force, which has returned us to our homeland, we want to thank them because we are back with our families again, we are resuming our work and we are back in our country,” said José Flabio Torres, Technical Director of Deportivo Pasto.
The FAC-1219 aircraft brought the athletes of the men's team back to the city of Cali, taking into account that the operating hours of the Antonio Nariño airport that serves the city of Pasto end daily at 18:00 hours.
