This individual would be the head of observation points at the service of the Organized Armed Group, and would be in charge of providing information about the operations carried out by the Military Forces in the region.
The National Army, in a coordinated and inter-institutional military operation with the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, obtained the arrest of an individual accused of being part of the Carlos Vásquez Substructure, of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo. This individual would have participated in several terrorist operations against civilians and the Military and Police Forces that carry out military operations in the area.
The military operation was carried out in the village of Churido, municipality of Apartadó, Antioquia, where troops of the Urabá Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) and the Criminal Investigation Section of the Urabá Police department arrived. There they arrested alias Máquina or Kevin who, according to investigations, serves as the maximum ringleader of hitmen of the selfneamd illegal group.
This individual is accused of terrorist operations such as the incineration of vehicles on the roads, attack on civilians and Military Forces during the months of June and July 2022, the murder of soldier Miguel Palacio, where four other soldiers were in the same way injured; at the same time he is accused of placing posters alluding to the organization outlaw in rural areas of the subregion, during the month of January of this year.
In the operation, alias Máquina was found with two handguns, 28 9 mm caliber cartridges, three ammunition magazines, two cell phones; a motorcycle was in the same way immobilized and information of interest to military intelligence was obtained.
Alias Máquina had a valid arrest warrant to being sentenced to 496 months in prison and a fine for the crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes, aggravated homicide, simple kidnapping and aggravated kidnapping, among other crimes.
With this arrest it was possible to directly hit the criminal revenues and logistical component of this criminal structure that operates in the sub region of the Antioquia and Choco departments in Urabá.
The joint and coordinated work carried out in this area of the country has led to systematically weakening and neutralizing the criminal intentions of this organized armed group that constantly attacks the dignity, good physical condition and freedom of the people of Urabá region in Antioquia.
