Authorities in Caldas captured the father-in-law of alias Chatarra, one of the ringleaders of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Oriente, hitting the logistical and armed component of this organized criminal group.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan, after investigative work by troops of the Eighth Brigade of the National Army and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, the arrest of an individual, accused of being the logistical support of the GAO Clan del Oriente, with war material, military accessories and narcotics was possible. The search was carried out by the authorities in a house in the rural area of eastern region of Caldas.
The members of the Military Forces of the Infantry Battalion No.22 Batalla de Ayacucho in an inter-institutional work with the Technical Investigation Staff, impacted the criminal structure of the GAO Clan del Oriente again, when they carried out a raid on a house in the village Cristales de Samaná, in the department of Caldas, where they found weapons, ammunition and coca base paste.
Presumably the house, was being used as a temporary place for the material. The arrested is the father-in-law of alias Chatarra, one of the ringleaders of the Clan del Oriente, who is listed as one of the most wanted by the authorities in the department of Antioquia and for whom the authorities are providing a reward of up to 40 million pesos.
Among the items found by the members of the Military Forces there are an IM-26 type hand grenade, a traumatic pistol with two magazines, four traumatic ammunition, four 5.56 caliber ammunition, one 5.56 caliber magazine, one 9 mm caliber magazine and three riffle magazine carrying vests.
In the same way, two cell phones, four sim cards, more than three kilograms of coca paste base, which were found by troops in a hideout, and documents of interest for judicial analysis, were found and put in the custody of the institutions.
In Caldas, military resources are deployed throughout the territory to continuously ensure the life and safety of the people of Caldas.
