In the Security Council in Vista Hermosa, Meta, led by the Minister of Defense Iván Velásquez; accompanied by General Helder Fernán Giraldo Bonilla, and other authorities of the National Police, the Meta Governorate met to analyze the situation of security and peace building of the department established some commitments such as the strengthening of preventive campaigns against the crimes of extortion and kidnapping.
The Security Council, in which the Ariari Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) was present, in the same way they covered issues such as extortion and the dispute over territory conducted by criminal groups outlaw, especially in the southern area of Meta with its 11 municipalities (Granada, El Castillo, Lejanías, Mesetas, San Juan de Arama, Vista Hermosa, Puerto Lleras, Puerto Rico, Puerto Concordia, Uribe and La Macarena).
It was thus that the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Ariari, took decisive operations aimed at strengthening prevention against these crimes, getting closer and closer to the citizens, through the I don't pay, I denounce campaign, to receive the timely denunciation and thereby lead to the arrest of criminals who attack against the personal freedom and the patrimony of Colombians.
In response to this approach and its permanent work in this area of the country, added to the immediate denunciation of the community, the Ariari Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) in coordination with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office and Special Forces Battalion No.4, made the arrest in flagrante delicto in Granada, Meta, of an individual who apparently had belonged to the finance group of the 40th front of the former FARC.
The 34-year-old arrested man was intimidating his victim, a shopkeeper, who knew him as a former worker from a long time ago, through WhatsApp messages in which he intimidated him by assuring to attack his good physical condition if he refused to pay 20 million pesos.
It should be noted that the arrested had been released from prison a year and a half ago serving a sentence for extortion and currently his modus operandi was to identify himself as a member of the organized gang Bloque Meta.
He was put into custody of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office 18 of Granada and was again charged with the crime of extortion.
