Units of the Colombian Navy in the course of joint operations with the National Army and coordinated with the SIJÍN of the National Police, arrested an individual, who is an alleged member of the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, structure 48 in the village of La Tagua, municipality of Puerto Leguízamo - Putumayo.
The arrest was carried out during a checkpoint in La Tagua, by troops attached to Navy Infantry Battalion No.33 of the Colombian Navy with troops of the Jungle Infantry Battalion No.49 of the National Army and SIJIN units of the National Police. Alias Veo, was wa0nted by the Prosecutor's Office No.40 of the municipality of Puerto Leguízamo for the crimes of homicide and illegal carrying of weapons.
The 23-year-old man was listed as one of the five most wanted by the authorities in the department of Putumayo. The arrested has been charged with the murder of a demobilized member of the extinct FARC in April 2022, when he was leaving to play a microfootball match in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of the village of La Tagua - Putumayo.
With this arrest, the rural group of the GAO-r Structura 48, in charge of ordering selective homicides in the area due to retaliation conducted by members of these criminal organizations, is hit.
Alias Veo was put into custody of the authorities to continue with his judicial process.
