As part of the maritime control operations carried out by the units of the Colombian Navy, a suspicious go fast type ship, without a name or flag, was found when transiting in the Central Pacific, with three individuals transporting more than a ton of drugs.
Surface units, Coastguards and an aircraft of the Naval Institution participated during the maritime interception procedure. The individuals, noticing the work of the military personnel in the area, conducted evasive maneuvers in order to try to flee without any success, then threw part of the packages into the water in order to get rid of the illegal merchandise.
After the interception of the ship, the Coast Guard personnel recovered 52 sacks of the sea. Subsequently, the three foreign individuals who were crewing the boat were taken to the Colombian Navy ship along with the illegal merchandise and the boat, to be transported to the port of Buenaventura in Valle del Cauca, where they were put into custody of the Colombian authorities.
The packages containing the sacks were sent to the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH, which left positive result for 1,257 kilograms of marijuana.
The Pacific Naval Force continues to deal decisive blows to drug trafficking organizations that intend to use the sea to commit illegal acts. This finding prevented the entry of more than eight million dollars in these organizations resulting of their sale on the international illegal market as well as the distribution of more than 208 thousand doses on the streets of the world.
