Within the framework of the Joint Campaign Plan Ayacucho the Military Forces found war material in the Mayorquín River, rural area of Buenaventura – Valle del Cauca.
Units of the Colombian Navy were conducting search and area control maneuvers, in response to the call of the people of Mayorquín who reported that, after the clashes of recent days conducted by illegal armed groups in the area, criminals left suspicious packages in the municipality, presumably explosive devices.
Immediately, explosives expert arrived in area and during the review in the place said by the civilians, the Navy Infantry units were attacked with rifle fire by alleged members of the Residual Organized Armed Group Structure 6 Jaime Martínez, who wounded a crewman of the Naval Institution, who was evacuated to a medical center where he received the medical assistance and is now out of danger.
After repelling the attack, the navy men found on the bank of the Mayorquín River the lifeless body of one of the individuals who attacked the troops, carrying an R15 rifle and two magazines. In the same way, six rifles, two pistols, 28 rifle magazines, 1,218 rounds of ammunition of different calibers, a fragmentation grenade, military accessory material and bracelets alluding to the Residual Organized Armed Group E6 Jaime Martínez were found by troops in the nearby area.
The lifeless body found and the materials were put into custody of the National Police and the Technical Investigation Staff of the Attorney General's Office.
