With the purpose of carrying out an environmental project of reforestation and environmental education for the inhabitants of the department of Sucre region, the Navy Infantry Battalion No.14 carried out the planting of 2,000 specimens of native timber trees in different areas of the municipality of Toluviejo -Sucre.
This important contribution to the recovery of the environment was carried out in coordination with the Agrarian Bank, Argos, Miners of Toluviejo, National Police, Regional Autonomous Corporation of Sucre - CARSUCRE, Secretariat of Planning of Toluviejo, Public Lighting, The Triple A, Regional Manager, regional coordinators and residents of the sector.
This activity seeks to create awareness among the people and counteract the felling of trees and destruction of the environment that organized criminal groups have been carrying out to use the land for illegal mining or drug trafficking.
The Colombian Navy, working for the protection of life, biodiversity and the environment, will continue to conduct sustainable operations that contribute to the take care of ecosystems and strategic environmental routes in the Colombian Caribbean and throughout the national territory.
