In the course of an operation against the transnational crime of illicit drug trafficking, the Colombian Navy reported the finding of more than 331 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, which were being transported by a Venezuelan and a Dominican on board a go fast ship.
This result was achieved through maritime patrol and traffic control tasks, carried out by Coast Guard and Naval Aviation units of the Colombian Navy, which combined their resources to detect a suspicious ship sailing through the waters of the Caribbean Sea. Once the individuals who were crewing the boat realized the existence of the authorities, they started to escape by conducting evasive maneuvers.
After a chase, members of the Military Forces reported the maritime interception 49 nautical miles northwest of Riohacha - La Guajira. Inside the ship were found by troops 14 sacks containing 331 rectangular packages, similar to those used by criminal organizations for the trafficking of narcotic substances.
The personnel were transported along with the material and the boat to the city of Santa Marta, where officials of the Technical Investigation Corps – CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH to the substance contained in the packages, determining that it was 331.9 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
The individuals were arrested and, subsequently, together with the material found, they were put into custody of the authorities for prosecution.
Thanks to this result, the organizations serving drug trafficking stopped receiving more than 11 million dollars into their logistical and financial structures. In the same way, the commercialization of approximately 830 thousand doses of the narcotic on the streets of the world was prevented.
