About a thousand people were benefited in the Development Support Activity.
The Colombian Navy through the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.31, jointly with the National Army, coordinated with the National Police and with the support of public and private organizations carried out a Development Support Activity in the village of Cumarales, in a rural area of the municipality of Cartagena del Chairá.
On board the Navy Infantry units, the river transportation of about 40 people and fifteen tons of material, indispensable for this activity was carried out on the Caguán River. For two days they provided care in general medicine, psychology, dentistry, vaccination, prenatal control, planning, distribution of medicines, among other health services.
In the same way, recreational activities were carried out, as well as planting of timber and fruit specimens, affiliation to the health system and the distribution of more than 700 donations represented in school kits, children's clothing, footwear, toys, Bienestarina (food supplement), thus serving about 1,000 people who live in the area. These development support activities are the result of the unified actions of State institutions with public and private institutions for the improvement of the quality of life of the riverside communities.
The activity was supported by the Mayor's Office of Cartagena del Chairá - Caquetá, the National Learning Service - SENA, the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing - ICBF, the Sisbén (subsidiary government program), Families en Accion, the Municipal Hospital Sor Teresa Adele and the Food Bank of Bogotá.
