Troops of the Cauca Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) in a joint operation with the Gaula of the National Police reported the rescue of a citizen of Ecuadorian nationality who was apparently being kidnapped by a member of common crime, since last May 22, 2023.
Thanks to the timely call to line 147 made by an Ecuadorian citizen in which he reported that he and his companion had been victims of kidnapping, pointing out that in an oversight he had escaped of the hands of his kidnappers leaving his compatriot in the place where they had been held; for which he alerted the authorities who immediately launched a rescue operation.
According to the victims, they were summoned by an alleged multinational company that provided a very complete portfolio of services in Colombia, it was thus that the two Ecuadorian citizens moved to a rural area to which they were summoned and, once there, they were kidnapped. It should be noted that for their release the individuals would be demanding from the families of foreigners 350 thousand dollars or the equivalent in Colombian pesos (about one billion pesos).
Within the framework of the operation, 30 men participated, including Military officers, Police officers and members of the Technical Investigation Staff of the Attorney General's Office, who transferred the victims safely to the city of Popayán and later coordinated the return to their country.
It is important to remember the importance of the denunciation, because once the Military Gaula is aware of the situation, the reaction is immediate and the opportunity to arrest the criminals is increasing.
