The constructions had the capacity to produce up to 3,500 kilograms of coca base paste per month.
During the river search and control operations carried out by Colombian Navy troops in the rivers of the department of Nariño, 10 illegal laboratories for the production of coca paste base and cocaine hydrochloride were destroyed.
Guided by military intelligence information, units of the Navy Infantry Brigade No.4 reached the rural areas of the municipalities of Tumaco, Mosquera, Olaya Herrera and Santa Bárbara de Iscuandé – Nariño, finding eight constructions for the production of coca paste base and two constructions for the production of cocaine hydrochloride.
Within these illegal constructions were found by troops 105 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride according to Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH, 657 kilos of coca base paste and about four tons of processed coca leaf. In the same way, about 5,500 kilograms of solid precursors for the production of the base paste were found by troops, including dry coca leaves, cement, lime, activated charcoal, sodium sulfate, and more than 8,500 gallons of liquid coca base, DIESEL, gasoline, acetone, thinner and ammonia.
Finally, war materiel, instruments for the manufacture of cocaine hydrochloride, two rudimentary boats, communications equipment, food and kitchen utensils were found by troops.
This material, which would belong to the Residual Organized Armed Groups, “Segunda Marquetalia” and “Comando Coordinador de Occidente”, was destroyed in a controlled conditions in coordination with the Attorney General's Office, complying with the established protocols for this type of procedure.
With these operations, the finances of the organizations that commit crimes such as drug trafficking in the Colombian Pacific were hit by more than two billion pesos.
