At the base of the Military Transport Air Command- CATAM of the Colombian Air Force, Mr. Iván Velásquez Gómez, Minister of National Defense, accompanied by the Military High Command, handed the National Flag to eight members of the Urban Anti-Terrorist Special Forces Grouping- AFEAU of the Colombian Military Forces, who will participate in the International Championship Fuerzas Comando 2023, which will be held at the military facilities of the Special Forces Training Center in Sierra Prieta and the Las Calderas Naval Base, in the Dominican Republic, between June 12 and 22.
Fuerzas Comando 2023 is the largest special operations ground exercise in the Americas. This military competition brings together about 600 military personnel, police officers and security personnel of the best special operations forces units of the American continent. It has been organized since 2004 by the Southern Command of the United States- SOUTHCOM and aims to strengthen cooperation relations between the allied nations and reinforce the training of elite units that must face the new unconventional threats that arise in the region.
The Fuerzas Comando team of the Colombian Military Forces is known throughout the world as an unstoppable force. Throughout its history, it has accumulated 11 victories in the International Championship of Fuerzas Comando demonstrating an unparalleled ability to train and overcome intense physical, tactical and strategic tests. Its rigorous training and unwavering commitment to excellence, have made it a force respected and admired by other countries.
Within this team, there are three Non-Commissioned Officers of the Colombian Air Force, who with commitment, respect and sacrifice will in the same way leave the best image of the Air Institution in this championship.
