An aeromedical transfer carried out by a civil aircraft was the object of an improvised change of route due to adverse weather conditions. The aircraft, which had been heading to Puerto Carreño since La Primavera, had to land at the Coronel Luis Arturo Rodríguez Meneses air base of the Colombian Air Force, in Marandua, Vichada. On board the aircraft was a 28-year-old woman of Venezuelan nationality, who required priority medical assistance due to health complications.
The aircraft, which was conducting medical transportation, had departed with the aim of taking the young woman to a specialized medical center in Puerto Carreño. However, adverse weather conditions made it impossible to safely land at the intended destination. Faced with this situation, the pilot requested to land, due to the eventuality, at the Colombian Air Force base, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the passenger.
Thanks to the facilities and equipment of the institution's health establishment, the patient could spend the night in optimal conditions, receiving the necessary care to stabilize her health condition. The civilian doctors and nurses provided an efficient and compassionate treatment, working for the well-being of the young woman at all times.
The next day, taking advantage of an improvement in the weather conditions, the young woman was successfully transferred to her final destination in Puerto Carreño, where she received the specialized medical assistance she required. This transfer would not have been possible without the rapid response and collaboration by the personnel of the civil aircraft, the Colombian Air Force and the military health establishment. Their joint effort led to raise the physical condition and well-being of the patient, safeguarding her life in a situation of medical contingency.
