In an effort to contribute to the environment and the well-being of the Colombian Caribbean communities, the Colombian Navy through the Navy Infantry Battalion No.13, transported more than 700,000 specimens of bocachico-type fish (Prochilodus magdalenae), of the fish-growing station in Repelón - Atlántico to four swamps in different municipalities of the department of Bolívar.
The specimens will repopulate the El Jubilado Swamps in the municipality of Guamo, the Jesús del Monte Swamp in the municipality of El Carmen de Bolívar, the El Puyal Swamp in the municipality of Córdoba and the Grande Swamp in the municipality of Zambrano - Bolívar.
This operation conducted by the Colombian Navy, the Government of Bolívar, the leaders of rudimentary Fishermen and the National Authority of Aquaculture and Fisheries, aims to increase the quantity of native fish to favor rudimentary fishing, increase economic activity and improve the living conditions of rudimentary fishermen of more than 3,000 families in the region.
