In an effort to break the will to fight of the Organized Armed Groups, five alleged perpetrators of extortion activities were arrested in the south of the department of Tolima, it was a joint and coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Aerospace Force, the National Army, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office.
Those arrested, who apparently belong to the FARC-EP dissidents commit crimes through the Ismael Ruiz Substructure. They were taken in a helicopter of the Air Combat Command No.4, of the municipality of Planadas in Tolima, to the city of Ibagué, where they must face charges for the possible crime of association to commit crimes for extortion purposes.
The investigative work was carried out for the identification and finding of the individuals who allegedly had intimidated the citizens through the use of violent practices for economic purposes; regarding the facts, the Colonel Commander of CACOM-4, said at a Press meeting: “The peasants, small and medium producers in the south of Tolima, can feel good because the Military Forces work hard to promote tranquility and economic development of the region.
