The explosive had been planted on the side of the road, where two tractor-trailers were crossed yesterday by alleged members of the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Structure 33.
In the framework of military operations, soldiers of the National Army neutralized an explosive device that had been left on the side of the road that connects El Zulia with Tibú, Norte de Santander.
The events took place yesterday near the village of Santa Rosa, when individuals, apparently members of the residual organized armed group Structure 33, obstructed the road axis with two tractor-trailers.
Once the facts were known, an operation was launched to secure the area and neutralize any terrorist operation that could hit civilians and the military units that were attending to the situation.
Soldiers of the Mechanized Cavalry Group No.5 and of the Direct operation and Reconnaissance Battalion.3 arrived at the scene to secure the area while explosive ordnance experts carried out the checks on the point in question.
Following the established protocols step by step, soldiers of the Explosive Ordnance Handling Group (MARTE) carried out the inspection of the place and after hours of painstaking work they verify that the tractor-trailers did not have explosives. Having ruled out this possibility, the military units conducted in the area, found a white fabric with explosives that had been left on the side of the road with which they intended to attack the good physical condition of the soldiers.
Finally, in the last few hours it was possible to restore the regularity of the vehicular transit on this road, as well as the neutralization of this terrorist operation organized against members of the Military Forces and the civilians who transit through this sector.
