The Command of the Third Brigade, a unit of the Third Division, informs:
1. On the morning of August 29 of this year, as a result of an attack on the military base in the Anchicaya sector, in the municipality of Dagua, Valle del Cauca, our Soldier Emanuel Benítez Ochoa, of the High Mountain Battalion No.3 Doctor Rodrigo Lloreda Caicedo, was killed when he was carrying out security and protection work for the inhabitants of this municipality.
2. Our serviceman was native to the Banana Growing Area, in the department of Magdalena, and he was 22 years old.
3. According to preliminary information, this act was perpetrated by members of the organized armed group résiduel Jaime Martínez.
4. At this time, arrangements are being made so that a group of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office enter the sector to carry out urgent acts.
In the same way, the respective denunciations will be filed with the Attorney General's Office.
5. Once the situation is known, troops of the military unit, with the support of the aircraft of the Air Assault Aviation Division of the National Army, reinforce the operations in the sector to protect the communities and find out the whereabouts of those responsible for this fact.
6. The National Army deeply regrets the death of our brave soldier Benitez and sends his family, partners and comrades the most heartfelt condolences.
In the same way, a multidisciplinary team of the Family Center of the Third Brigade is accompanying and supporting them in this difficult moment.
