Honor and glory forever
The Command Against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats, of the Air Assault Aviation Division of Colombian National Army, informs:
1. In compliance with the defense, security and citizen coexistence policy 2022-2024 commitment for Peace and life, and the strategic plan Ayacucho; within the framework of a military operation against the Residual Organized Armed Group Franco Benavides Structure, in the rural area of the municipality of Cumbitara, department of Nariño, troops of the Deployment Force Against Transnational Threats engaged a combat against this residual GAO and unfortunately four of our military were killed.
2. The military personnel who were vilely murdered protecting the lives of the Nariño inhabitants are:
Lieutenant José Rafael Martínez Morelos, from Cartagena, Bolivar.
Specialist soldier Juan Carlos Silva Argumedo, from Valencia, Córdoba.
Specialist Soldier Jean Carlos Yaguara Yepez, from Villavicencio, Meta
Specialist soldier Jhan Carlos Sandoval Sandoval, from Buenos Aires, Cauca.
3. The bodies of our military personnel have already been removed of the sector and were transported to Pasto, Nariño, as part of the medical-legal procedures.
4. The military operations by the Colombian National Army troops in the area continue to be conducted to protect the communities of the sector and to find out the whereabouts of those responsible.
5. Colombian National Army will file denunciations with the authorities, given the flagrant violation of the principles of International Humanitarian Law.
6. A multidisciplinary team of the Family Center of the Air Assault Aviation Division was sent to carry out the respective accompaniment at this difficult time to their loved ones.
7. This Command sends a heartfelt message of condolences to the families of our deceased personnel, and raises prayers to the Almighty for the eternal rest of these members of the Military Forces.
