Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan, in the last few hours, in stability operations, National Army troops have found and destroyed an illegal hiding place in the village La Esmeralda, in the municipality of Puerto Rondón, Arauca.
The exhaustive search on the area led to the finding and subsequent destruction of the hideout, which housed a significant amount of explosive material belonging to the GAO-r Structure Tenth and Substructure 28. Among the items found there are 8 antipersonnel mines, 3 improvised explosive devices, 22 bars of indugel (explosive), 13 meters of detonating cord, 3 nonelectric detonators, 350 meters of two wire cable, 4 rolls of transparent tape and 5 bags of metallic pellets.
This important finding represents a significant blow to the criminal structures that use these explosives to perpetrate violent acts and attack the security of the region, thus violating human rights and the provisions of international humanitarian law.
It is noteworthy that in 2023 in the department of Arauca, our troops have destroyed in controlled conditions more than 700 improvised explosive devices, anti-personnel mines and launching pads, protecting the lives of peasants, children and animals, who become victims of these means and unconventional methods of warfare.
