During an operation against criminal organizations that commit crimes in the Caribbean, the Colombian Navy, in coordination with the Technical Investigation Staff of the Attorney General's Office, arrested four individuals in Santa Marta, who apparently would be linked to activities related to drug trafficking.
The operation was carried out simultaneously in different parts of the capital city of Magdalena. Two of those arrested were apprehended at the time they intended to travel to Ecuador, where they allegedly coordinated the criminal operations together with other drug trafficking organizations from Panama and Ecuador.
The arrested, known by the aliases of Junior, W, Mario and Comando, allegedly belonged to an organized gang, which specialized in financing, collecting, transporting and also underwater contaminating with narcotics high-level ships, at different ports of Colombia, bound for countries in South America, Central America and Europe.
Those arrested, who will have to answer for the alleged crimes of trafficking, manufacture or aggravated transportation of narcotics, were put into custody of the local Prosecutor's Office of Santa Marta.
