The General Command of Military Forces of Colombia with the Planeta Group, presents the book Operation Esperanza, a publication that narrates the joint effort of the ground, river and air soldiers through air, canine and ground units, with government institutions and indigenous communities, in order to find on June 9 of this year, the four indigenous minors who were lost during 40 days in the jungle.
In 179 pages, this unprecedented operation of the Military Forces is described in a testimonial form, paying especial attention to the technical, tactical and human resources which necessary to find the survivors of the Cessna U206G aircraft with registration HK2803 that crashed on Monday, May 1, 2023, when it was covering the Araracuara - San José del Guaviare route. The thicket of the manigua (deep jungle), the poor visibility at every step and the more than 2,600 kilometers traveled were no impediment to the incessant search.
The effort, perseverance and above all the Esperanza (Hope), as this Operation was called, was what led the Special Forces Commandos and several indigenous groups to carry out their mission: to return those little ones alive home.
“Miracle, miracle, miracle, miracle” were the words pronounced by one of the Commandos, just at that moment, it became known that the different strategies and the intact faith had done the impossible: to take Lesly, Soleiny, Tien and Cristin home.
