The material found and those arrested were put into custody of the authorities
Within the framework of military operations aimed at combating the illegal exploitation of natural resources, soldiers of Colombian National Army, in coordination with the Police and the Attorney General's Office, arrested in flagrante delicto 19 individuals, who specialized in the illicit extraction of mining deposits in the municipality of Cúcuta.
The military operation led the troops of the Mechanized Cavalry Group N°5 General Hermogenes Maza to the village of Algaborro, San Faustino village, where in coordination with the Police and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps), these individuals were surprised inside a coal mine where they were illegally exploiting this natural resource.
Among the material found there is an power generator, a chainsaw, an electric hammer, 2 drills, 44 bars of rudimentary explosive, 24 kilos of supplies for the manufacture of explosives, a detonator and 100 meters of detonating cable.
The arrested and the material were put into custody of the authority for their respective prosecution.
The troops of the Thirtieth Brigade work constantly in the framework of their operations, in order to contribute to the protection of the environment and natural resources.
