In this, its fourth edition, it is expected it visits four villages and benefit more than eight thousand members of the vulnerable communities on the banks of the Atrato River.
On board the River Support Heavy Patrol Boat ARC Senén Araujo of the Colombian Navy, the fourth editions of the journey Sailing to the Heart of the Naval Atrato – Naval Bicentenary began, where a team of professionals and volunteers arrived in the municipality of Vigía del Fuerte (Antioquia), to bring well-being to the inhabitants of this important region of the country.
Since the early hours of yesterday, the opening was made and the humanitarian assistance activity began, providing specialized dental and psychological medical assistance to the inhabitants, distribution of community lunches, hairdressing, recreation, and the most important the donation and distribution of recreational toys to the little ones, bringing with this, joy, well-being and recreational spaces.
At its first point of care, more than 1,600 people benefited, including children, adolescents, adults and the elderly, contributing to the timely assistance and meeting of the basic needs of its inhabitants.
The River Support Heavy Patrol Boat ARC Senen Araujo will continue its journey along the majestic Atrato River, sailing through the municipalities of Murindó, Riosucio and Turbo, bringing well-being and joy to the riverside municipalities and significantly impacting those who live together in this region of the country.
The crossing, which is led by the Colombian Navy, has the support of the Southern Command of the United States, the United States Embassy in Bogotá, BBVA Bank, the Mayor's Office and the Ministry of Health of Vigía del Fuerte Antioquia, Corpourabá, the Civil Defense, Colombian National Army, the Aerospace Force of Colombia, the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing – ICBF, the COAMI of Antioquia, the Fuerza de las Palabras Foundation, the Royal Canin Foundation, the Ser Social Foundation, Postobón, Puerto Bahía Colombia de Urabá, the Food Bank, the Minuto de Dios Organization Corporation, the International Gideons Christian Ministry, the Hada Laboratory, the Incobra Laboratory, Governmental and non-governmental institutions.
