With the installation of this semi-permanent modular metal structure, the Special Engineers Brigade will contribute to the mobility of about 40,000 inhabitants who had been isolated for six years.
After the emergency that took place in the first collapse of the El Mundo ravine bridge, in 2017 and later in 2021, the peasants of the village El Balsamo have been the most troubled, since they got practically isolated of the municipalities of Zapayán, Chibolo, Pedraza and Pivijay, among others; for this reason they found themselves in the need to resort to an improvised raft to transport themselves, putting their lives at risk.
That is why the first phase of movement began, which goes from the Military Fort of Tolemaida to Valledupar and in the second phase from Valledupar to Concordia, Magdalena.
The Military Engineers will transport white and yellow machinery, in addition to the Acrow-type structure, in a Reinforced Triple Single configuration of 60.96 meters, with a load-bearing capacity of 52 tons, which will re-established mobility in the sector.
It is estimated that the start of the installation will take place on December 10; about 27 men will work on it, in order to provide the inhabitants and passers-by with the opportunity to circulate safely.
