Within the framework of stability operations and to provide security to the inhabitants, as well as mobility on the main roads of the department, troops of the Field Artillery Battalion No. 1 Tarqui, of the First Brigade of Colombian National Army, countered a terrorist action of the organized armed group, GAO, ELN, at the La Orquídea bridge, on the Sogamoso–Pajarito road axis, Cusiana road route, National Route 62.
Once the situation was known, personnel of the Explosives and Demolitions Team, EOD, moved to the place and applied the technical security protocols established for this type of event.
After securing the perimeter, the experts carried out the removal of a flag alluding to the GAO ELN and the controlled destruction of the elements used, preventing affectations to the construction of the bridge and mitigating any risk to road users.
Subsequently, the troops carried out a thorough search of the perimeter area with the support of specialized trained dogs, ruling out the activity of improvised explosive devices. In the same way, they are constant in their permanent military presence in the sector to provide the security of the inhabitants and travelers.
Thanks to the quick reaction and professionalism of the soldiers of the First Brigade, the vehicular flow was restored on the National Route 62, Cusiana road route, enabling mobility in safe conditions again.
