The timely intervention of the troops neutralized a launch structure and ten improvised explosive devices that were a serious threat to the inhabitants and the Military Forces, in the rural area of El Retorno.
As part of military operations, troops from the Rapid Development Battalion No. 33, of the Rapid Development Force No. 11, found and carried out the controlled destruction of a launch device and ten improvised explosive devices, presumably belonging to the residual organized armed group Bloque Jorge Suárez Briceño, Jhon Linares Structure, in the village of Termales, municipality of El Retorno, department of Guaviare.
The military operation was carried out by personnel specialized in explosives and demolitions, who carried out the controlled destruction of the rudimentary cylindrical-type devices, preventing them from being used to attack the troops or the inhabitants who transit by this sector. Through this result, a criminal capacity that put the life, integrity and free mobility of rural communities at risk is neutralized.
Colombian National Army rejects the indiscriminate use of improvised explosive devices by the residual organized armed groups, as constituting a serious violation of human rights and international humanitarian law. Through this result of the military operation, the criminal acts of these structures continue to be weakened and the institutional commitment to protect communities and preserve security in the Colombian southeast is ratified.
