On the third day of intervention to provide support in the emergency caused by the rainy season in the department of Casanare, soldiers of Colombian National Army's Engineer Brigade for Disaster Care and Prevention continue to deploy their specialized resources in the municipalities of San Luis de Palenque and Trinidad, where they carry out evacuation tasks, supply of drinking water, distribution of humanitarian aid and recovery of areas affected by floods.
The operations are carried out in coordination with the local authorities and the agencies of the National Disaster Risk Management System, with the purpose of protecting the affected communities and contributing to the restoration of safe conditions for the inhabitants.
In the municipality of San Luis de Palenque, the assistance teams carried out cleaning and sludge removal works in sectors affected by the overflow of the waters. These efforts have supported the recovery of houses and the enabling of routes damaged by the emergency. At the same time, the supply of drinking water and the extraction of waste took place, facilitating the gradual return of adequate mobility and habitability conditions for the inhabitants of the area.
Meanwhile, in the municipality of Trinidad, the soldiers carried out preventive evacuations in the villages of Santa Marta, San Joaquín and Chaparrito, as a measure of protection against the increase in water levels. They in the same way carried out cleaning and sludge removal activities in the La Polita neighborhood and supported the distribution of humanitarian aid to support families in the village of San Pedro.
As a result of the operations carried out during this activity, 69 people were evacuated, 41 pieces of furniture and belongings and 41 animals were brought to safety. Similarly, 35,000 liters of drinking water were supplied, 180 humanitarian aids were distributed, 650 linear meters of roads were enabled and 5,600 people benefited in the affected sectors.
