In total, three individuals were arrested, including alias Maicol, accused of carrying out the drone attacks against the José Hilario López military base in April and July of this year. In the operation, two drones, optical fiber, war items, vehicles and communication equipment were seized.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, troops of the Cauca Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), of the Twenty-Ninth Brigade, together with the National Police, through a search procedure in several neighborhoods of Popayán, department of Cauca, reported the arrest of three alleged members of the clandestine militia group belonging to the Central General Staff residual group.
The three arrested, including a woman, were charged with the crimes of association to commit aggravated crimes for engaging in terrorism; manufacture, trafficking and carrying of weapons, ammunition and explosives for the exclusive use of the Military Forces.
Among those arrested is alias Leo, one of the most wanted criminals in Popayan who was a ringleader of urban militias. This individual was in charge of carrying out criminal intelligence and coordinating logistics for the attack in the capital city of Cauca.
Alias Maicol was also arrested, accused of being drone operator, explosives expert and alleged perpetrator of multiple terrorist attacks, including the activation of a car bumb in Belén de Los Andaquíes, Caquetá department, in December 2025 and two drone attacks against the José Hilario López de Popayán military base, in April and last July 17.
It was in the same way possible to arrest alias Yeny, a collaborator of the urban network specialized in the identification and monitoring of strategic objectives for this armed group to carry out terrorist attacks. According to the authorities, these criminal actors were specialized in the coordination and execution of attacks using explosives, kamikaze drones and remote-controlled vehicles.
During the military operation, 2 drones with their respective joysticks, 2 vision lenses, 2 fiber optic reels of 5 kilometers each, 2 tear gas grenades, 5 pamphlets alluding to the FARC-EP, 5 cell phones, 2 motorcycles and traffic licenses were seized.
The arrested and the confiscated items were put into custody of the authorities for their corresponding judicial process.
