Aerial monitoring backs the assistance to face the emergency in the Via Parque Isla Salamanca

Apoyada desde el aire la atención de la emergencia en la Vía Parque Isla Salamanca

In order to contribute to the control of the emergency, the Air Combat Command No. 3 deployed a Bell 212 helicopter equipped with Bambi Bucket system, from where 28 water drops were executed on the points of greatest loss. During the operation, 6,825 gallons of water and 20 gallons of retardant liquid were poured, strengthening the actions to contain the progress of the fire and reduce its impact on this important ecosystem.

The air operation was carried out in a coordinated manner with the authorities and the response agencies, complementing the work carried out on the ground. The use of the resources of the Colombian Aerospace Force contributed to optimizing the assistance to face the emergency, facilitating the intervention in areas of difficult access and supporting the protection of the biodiversity in the Salamanca Island Park.

The assistance has been possible thanks to the coordinated work conducted by the Fire Departments, the fire personnel of the Salamanca Island Park, the authorities of the department of Magdalena, the National Navy, Colombian National Army, the Colombian Aerospace Force and the relief agencies, who are constantly ready to join the efforts to take control of the conflagration and safeguard the natural resources of this strategic area of the Colombian Caribbean.
