The Colombian Navy arrived with Wellness and Development Activity for inhabitants of Punta Arena, in the department of Bolívar
In Punta Arena, in an area near Tierra Bomba, à Cartagena, Amphibious Disembarkation Ship 'Golfo de Urabá' transported personnel and donations that benefited about 500 inhabitants of this exotic area, where the cultural diversity and rudimentary practices of a family economy live from fishing and tourism.
A morning of services of medical assistance, legal advice, training and entertainment, took place for children, adolescents, women and older adults, who met to receive the entire State services , thanks to work previously conducted by the Colombian Navy, civil authorities and Non-profit foundations of the heroic city.
The event was attended by the District Mayor of Cartagena, Pedrito Pereira, accompanied by the Colombian Navy personnel represented by men and women of the Surface Fleet of the Caribbean Naval Force and officials of the Secretariat of Participation and Social Management, the Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena and members of the Amigos del Mar Foundation.
Among the most significant donations, 100 chairs were distributed to the classrooms of the Educational Institute of Tierra Bomba, based in Punta Arena, managing to improve the current conditions of children in school.
In the same way, training talks on family planning, prevention of domestic violence and preservation of the environment were provided to the community.
This year, the ARC Amphibious Disembarkation Ship ‘Golfo de Urabá’ has carried out more than 10 Development Support Activities focusing on the most vulnerable sectors of the Caribbean region, including Alta Guajira and Tierra Bomba.
