The military operation took place in the municipality of Leiva, in Nariño, where the authorities found an illegal hideout, through a raid warrant, with coca base paste, cocaine hydrochloride and cash.
In military operations against residual organized armed groups, GAO-r, the Rapid Deployment Force troops No.4, Of the Specific Command of Cauca, of the Third Division of the National Army, together with the Operational Group of Criminal Investigation of the National Police, by warrant of raid issued by the Attorney General's Office, supported the search for an illegal hiding place that would belong to the residual Gao Carlos Patiño.
In the operation, the men of the direct operation and Reconnaissance Battalion no.4 came to the house where it was supposed to be a sale of plastic products and a drugstore in the urban area of the municipality of Leiva, Nariño, where it was possible to find 10 kilograms of coca base paste, 900 grams of cocaine hydrochloride and a sum of money.
At the time of advancing the detention procedure on the person in charge of guarding the property, the troops were surrounded by people who belong to the community of Paredes; these people opposed the apprehension and, due to the situation generated, the National Army and officers of the National Police only took the material that had been confiscated.
The National Army vehemently rejects these acts and will pose criminal denunciations before the authorities; it in the same way invites the community to support the legitimate operation of the State against organized armed groups and the factors of instability in the region, which are mainly responsible for violence against communities.
