Soldiers of the Humanitarian Demining Engineers Battalion No.2 do not desist in their mission to declare the Department of Tolima and part of the territory of Caldas free of suspicion of anti-personnel mines.
Hence, in the operation carried out in the municipality of Planadas, Tolima, exactly in the hamlets Peña Rica, San Miguel and La Hacienda, where 237 events have been reported, they have already investigated 178 events, leading more than 100 families of the areas to pass through their properties quietly.
However, in that area of the municipality, 59 events are still to be investigated where work is already being done to rule out the suspicion of Mines.
As for the work being carried out in the Hamlets Diamante Chili and Orisol de Roncesvalles, the mine clearance specialists claim that they have decontaminated about 26,000 square meters, obtaining a progress of the mission by 70 percent.
However, in the village El Oso, in the municipality of Cajamarca, the results of demining are favorable, since with manual demining technique 19,320 square meters have already been cleared, and although the territory has 25 events, 15 have been investigated, showing a 60 percent progress. It is noteworthy that, in this municipality the soldiers will in the same way work on the village Pan de Azucar, recently approved for clearance work.
In the Department of Caldas, operations are ratified in the Village San Joaquín La Linea of the municipality of Supía, where so far 1,747 square meters have been decontaminated.
Another favored territory is Manzanares, there the military worked on six sectors of the Unión del Toro village clearing 13.442 square meters. Now they are expecting to present that village and give the good news to the inhabitants.
It should be noted that mine clearance specialists despite the coronavirus, continue to conduct their work complying with biosecurity protocols.
