In coordination with the CAS, ANDI (National association of industrialists) and private companies in the region, an activity was carried out in the dam that supplies water to this important municipality.
Soldiers of the Battalion of Engineers, No. 5, Coronel Francisco José de Caldas, of the Fifth Brigade, Second Division, with the support of the Corporación Autónoma Regional de Santander – CAS, ANDI, the Mayor of Los Santos, planted more than 1,600 trees as a contribution to the strengthening of the main dam that supplies water to the municipality and the villages nearby.
This activity is part of the plan led by the Ministry of Environment with which it is intended to plant 180 million trees to mitigate the impact of deforestation and climate change. The trees plated on this event, are native to the region and adapt very well to the climatic and terrain conditions of this zone of the department.
Actions like these, framed within Operation Artemisa and under the leadership of the Environmental Bubble, in the same way integrate private companies and the community in order to generate environmental awareness and responsibility in each of the participants.
With this, the National Army reaffirms its commitment to continue conducting operations that will strengthen the care and preservation of the environment, natural resources and look for better environments, full of life, and water and oxygen for these and the for future generations.
