The United States Air Force Commander - USAF, General David L. Goldfein, visited our country for the first time, attending the invitation made by the Commander of the Colombian Air Force, General Carlos Bueno Vargas, with the purpose of strengthening relations and bilateral agreements for new cooperation accords.
The joint work conducted by the two countries has already obtained results, on this occasion, the Colombian Air Force Commander obtained the donation of a Hercules C-130 H aircraft by the USAF, which will strengthen the different missions CAF conducts at the service of the country. In the same way, a new request for the donation of two more aircrafts that would materialize in 2019 is already approved by General Goldfein.
General Goldfein, arrived in Bogota accompanied by Major General Andrew Croft, Commander of the Twelfth Wing of the USAF, who after paying tribute to the Heroes of the Nation Fallen in Combat, with a wreath, at the memorial with the same name, visited the Air Force Command. Several meetings and conferences were held, including the imposition of the 'Legend of Merit' medal, a higher-level decoration granted to General Carlos Eduardo Bueno Regional because of his leadership, his capabilities and his commitment in his work for the defense of sovereignty and national security.
This strategic visit is the result of the good efforts made by the Colombian Air Force, recognized as the best ally of the United States Air Force in the hemisphere, positioning it as a regional reference in training, security and defense issues, air defense, fight against drug trafficking, decisiveness in combat and international exercises, among others.
