Thanks to the inter-institutional work with the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management, UNGRD, it was possible to find 10 people in La Esperanza neighborhood, including five minors, members of two families. They were transported on mobile units of the Navy from there to their relatives who live in safer sectors such as Brisas del Mar and Las Americas.
"As soon as we learned of the situation, we proceeded to provide timely humanitarian assistance to these citizens, the safety of the people will always be our priority and of course in these moments of public calamity," said the Commander in charge of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.50 .
The floods in this municipality are consequence of the overflow of the Inírida river, due to the heavy rains that began last June; just yesterday the region received 9 hours of continuous rainfall.
