As part of the emergency for the second rainy season in the department of Chocó.
Among the aids, food kits, household appliances, toiletries, clothing and mats were distributed.
As part of the commitment of the Colombian Sailors to the communities hit by the second rainy season this year, the Naval Institution sent the ARC Bahía Solano Ship to transport 17.8 tons of humanitarian aid, from the port of the Special District of Buenaventura - Valle del Cauca, to the Coast of San Juan in the department of Chocó.
Thanks to the coordination of the Colombian Navy with the Government of Valle del Cauca, the Office for Disaster Risk Management of Valle del Cauca, Asocaña and the people of Valle del Cauca, it was possible to collect 12.7 tons of humanitarian aid in Santiago de Cali, from where it was transported by land to Buenaventura, thanks to the crew of the Navy Infantry Brigade No.2. In the same way, the Risaralda Governorate sent 5.1 tons of aid, consisting of 300 toilet kits, 300 kitchen kits and 300 food kits.
In the Special District, crewmembers of Navy Command and Support Battalion No.2 they embarked the material on the Amphibious Landing Ship - BDA of the Pacific Naval Force, which sailed 63 nautical miles to Santa Genoveva de Docordó - Chocó department.
In this activity, the Chief of Staff of the Pacific Naval Force, Naval Captain Samir Andrés Castellanos Abdala, along with the governor of the department of Chocó, Nubia Carolina Córdoba Curi; and other civil and military authorities, humanitarian aid was distributed to the inhabitants who have been hit by floods and heavy rains, in this region of the country.
The municipal mayor of El Litoral del San Juan, Jhon Jairo Gutiérrez Pretel, thanked the support and willingness of the Sailors and navy units for the transportation of these humanitarian aid, for the benefit of the Chocó.
