Armada de Colombia y Policía Nacional capturan a 3 integrantes del Clan del Golfo en Sucre   

In development of a coordinated operation carried out by the Colombian Navy and the National Police, attending to early warnings No.026 and 061 of 2018, it was possible to capture in the sector of Algarrobal, rural area of the municipality of San Onofre, in the department of Sucre, an individual of Colombian nationality and two of Venezuelan nationality, who would be part of the substructure Juan José Gaitán of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo.

 

This result was possible through sustained operations carried out by the troops of Navy Battalion No.13 in the Montes de María subregion against this illegal armed group, leading the military to find in a mountainous area of this Sucre municipality, these individuals who would be at the service of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo who, noticing the presence of the authorities, tried to flee, being captured by the military thanks to the rapid reaction of the authorities.

 

In this operation it was in the same way possible to find a changon-type shotgun (ithaca37), clothing for the exclusive use of the military forces, 26 cartridges (Caliber 9 and 7.62 mm), 2 magazines for rifle, 3 cell phones, military accessories material and documentation of interest to Naval Intelligence.

 

The elements and the individuals were put into custody of the judicial authorities and will be prosecuted for the offences of illegal use of uniforms and identifications for the exclusive use of military forces and the manufacture, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition.

 

With the capture of these individuals, this organized armed group was directly hit, counteracting the control of strategic areas and routes for the trafficking of narcotics, damaging the collection of resources from illicit activities. In the same way, troops strengthen the consolidation, maintenance of security and guarantee non-repetition of crimes in the Montes de María region.
